Chattawak Chooses Gerber Technology’s PLM Solution

Chattawak selects Gerber Fashion Lifecycle Management to support PLM strategy.

(Connecticut, USA, SEPTEMBER 16, 2008) Gerber Technology, a unit of Gerber Scientific, Inc. (NYSE: GRB) and the world leader in automated CAD/CAM and PLM solutions for the apparel and flexible materials industry, today announced that Chattawak, part of Chomarat Group, has selected Gerber’s Fashion Lifecyle Management (FLM) solution for their Product Lifecycle Management initiatives.

The French specialist for women’s ready-to-wear apparel also has entered a Customer Technology Preview agreement with Gerber for its Collection Planning software. Gerber Technology’s Fashion Lifecycle Management solution, as an integral part of Chattawak’s overall IT and ERP system, will support the company’s needs to keep pace with its growth, reduce lead times, increase the accuracy of prototyping and improve the quality of information flow along the production chain.

Chattawak continues its trend of rapid growth, having doubled the number of selling points over the last three years to a total of 120 wholly-owned branches, franchises and concessions in department stores. The casual collection with a nomad spirit today has presence in 90 cities throughout France and a pilot shop at Waterloo, close to the Belgian capital. Chattawak underwent a robust selection process to qualify a solution. Of critical importance to the company was a system to enable collaborative creation and development, including a database structure that enables tight integration with its CAD and PDM software. The performance and experience of the local Gerber team and and the fact that 800 other customers in France alone rely on Gerber through service contracts, further supported their investment decision.

“We are convinced that Gerber’s software system will enable our designers, production staff and merchants to be more efficient and productive while making better business decisions,” said Stéphane Chomarat, Chattawak CEO. “Our careful evaluations pointed us to Gerber as the unique supplier able to provide a full Web PDM/PLM solution to enable us to fulfill all our ambitious requirements.” Chattawak was founded in 1987 as a specialist in children’s wear. In 1989, the company was acquired by Chomarat, a family-owned corporation which does most of its business in industrial fiber weaving.
