Dassault Systemes Acquires Greensoft, Announces New Step in Systems Strategy

(PARIS, FRANCE, 01 JULY, 2010) Dassault Systemes (DS) has announced a new step in its systems strategy with the acquisition of France based Geensoft, a provider of innovative embedded systems development solutions, for around $ 6.7 million.
DS has, in recent years, heavily invested to meet customer demand for multi-disciplinary integration and collaboration, and thereby support its customers’ transformation strategies.
The company’s V6 PLM platform delivers a collaborative environment that brings together multiple systems engineering disciplines, working with hundreds of disconnected domain specific tools.
DS expects to deliver a new class of PLM systems engineering solutions by leveraging Geensoft technology on the V6 platform, and exploiting the power of 3D together with information search technology.
“Integration with PLM will open new horizons for many companies in different industries looking to federate their innovation efforts,” said Marc Frouin, CEO at Geensoft.
Company officials said that the V6 portfolio is expanded by adding the capacity to model and generate the entire vehicle control software system. This will allow a validation loop by connecting the physical equipment with the digital mock up.
Noting that Geensoft’s team of experts will join Dassault Systèmes, Dominique Florack, senior executive vice president for products and Research & Development at Dassault Systèmes, said, “Together we will make the virtual product closer to the real world.”
“We couldn’t dream of a better partner than DS to expand the reach of our solutions worldwide. Our customers, such as PSA Peugeot Citroën, Alstom and Airbus have already started to transform their embedded systems design approach,” Frouin said.
