Lakeshore Learning Materials to Implement NGC’s PLM Software

NGC’s software will help Lakeshore streamline design and development of its private-label educational toys and learning materials

(MIAMI, MARCH 23, 2011) NGC® Software today announced that Lakeshore Learning Materials, a rapidly growing, innovative developer and retailer of educational toys and learning materials for children, is implementing NGC’s PLM solution for product design and development.

Lakeshore offers educators and families around the U.S. the best educational products and learning services through the company’s 50-plus retail locations, mail-order catalogs and e-Commerce website. After evaluating numerous PLM vendors, Lakeshore chose NGC’s PLM to streamline design and production of its products, with benefits including:

  • Real-time visibility. NGC’s PLM software will give Lakeshore real-time visibility into all phases of product design and development, allowing the retailer to instantly share information with Planning, Merchandising, Design, Costing, Sourcing, Manufacturing and Logistics.
  • Faster speed to market. NGC’s PLM includes features such as workflow calendars, collaboration tools, exception management, and automated alerts to help ensure Lakeshore’s design and production schedules stay on track.
  • Product testing and safety. Lakeshore maintains the highest quality standards. With NGC’s Testing and Compliance capabilities, Lakeshore can easily manage all aspects of product testing, including compliance with the requirements of the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA).

Lakeshore Learning has built our business by delivering the highest quality products for children and families, and we believe that NGC’s PLM software can help us build upon that tradition of excellence,” said Bo Kaplan, CEO, Lakeshore Learning Materials. “The local support and service we’re getting through NGC’s Los Angeles office is a huge plus for us, too, and should help ensure a successful PLM implementation.”

“Lakeshore Learning is synonymous with exciting, innovative educational products,” said Mark Burstein, president of sales and marketing, NGC. “We’re pleased to work with Lakeshore to bring new efficiencies to their product development process.”
