Leading UK retailers and brands come together to discuss fashion’s ever changing landscape
London, May 13, 2014 – Lectra, the world leader in integrated technology solutions dedicated to industries using soft materials—fabrics, leather, technical textiles and composite materials—hosted a roundtable event in London on 30th April, bringing together fashion brands, retailers and universities to discuss the complexities of organisational change and to reveal the strategies needed to successfully manage change.
Chaired by Eric Musgrave, editorial director of Drapers, the dialogue centred around the constant and unique challenge of creating quality and newness in an ever-evolving era of fast fashion, exploring the practicalities of implementing change, approaches to local and international expansion and the advantages of creating a sustainable supply chain ecosystem.
During the interactive debate, participants were asked to comment on the challenges they face within their businesses. Bringing production back to the UK, the cultural impact of change, and the observation that there remains a skills gap in the UK were commonly cited issues amongst the group. This led to a lively discussion with practical examples being shared to illustrate how organisations manage and execute their change strategies, and ultimately how the right expertise and technology can underpin successful business transformation.
“This has been a fantastic opportunity to uncover the issues that are at the core of the fashion world today,” said Imran Ali, sales director, Lectra UK. “In any business, managing change effectively is vital to ensuring that companies remain competitive and consistently deliver customer value. Lectra is proud to be able to support businesses through the change process, both with the deep industry knowledge and the technology necessary to maintain pace with the fashion industry not only in the UK, but also on a global scale.”
Eric Musgrave commented, “The combination of Lectra and Drapers brought together a very experienced and involved selection of delegates for what turned out to be a wide-ranging and insightful discussion. It was interesting and significant that despite their differences in size and market sector, their challenges surrounding change management were very similar indeed.”
In the UK, Lectra plans to hold roundtable events across 2014, which will continue to cover topics which resonate with the industry today.
