PTC Named a Leader in IoT Software Platforms by Top Independent Research Firm

PTC ThingWorx Highest Ranked in the Current Offering Category

FARNBOROUGH, UK. – November 16, 2016 –– PTC (NASDAQ: PTC) today announced that Forrester Research has named PTC as a leader in the new Forrester Wave™ report that evaluates Internet of Things (IoT) software platforms. Forrester ranked PTC’s ThingWorx® platform with the highest available scores according to fifteen criteria, including ‘connect functions’ and ‘advanced analytics.’

In the report, “The Forrester Wave™: IoT Software Platforms, Q4 2016,” Forrester evaluated PTC and 10 other vendors on a wide range of criteria for IoT software platforms, which, according to Forrester, “help simplify deploying, managing, operating, and capturing insights from IoT-enabled connected devices.”

Forrester makes the following observations about PTC in the report: “the company’s broad protocol support for both short-range and wireless connectivity options, strong digital twin functionality and a multitude of prepackaged applications that include asset management, alert management, product relationship management and workflow management place PTC in the top tier of vendors for this evaluation.” The report goes on to say, “the company also boasts the strongest augmented reality capabilities in this evaluation, due in part to its acquisition of Vuforia in 2015.”

Forrester assessed vendors against 25 criteria, which they grouped into three high-level buckets: current offering, strategy, and market presence. In the evaluation of current offering, PTC’s ThingWorx emerged with the highest scores among all vendors.

ThingWorx is the centerpiece of PTC’s Internet of Things technology portfolio, comprised of a rapid application development platform, connectivity, machine learning capabilities, augmented reality, and integration with leading device clouds. These capabilities combine to deliver a comprehensive IoT technology stack that enables customers to securely connect assets, quickly create applications, and innovate new ways to capture value.

Over 1,000 companies, including ElisaHeidelbergSysmex America Inc., and Vodafone, are using the ThingWorx platform to support their IoT strategies and to create new business value in a smart, connected world.

PTC’s ThingWorx platform has also been recently lauded by several other independent analyst firms, includingBCC ResearchCompass IntelligenceExperton GroupIoT Analytics, and Ventana Research.

The report cited partner ecosystems among ’key differentiators.’ PTC has built strategic relationships with several companies within the Wave’s Leaders and Strong Performer categories, as well as hundreds of other complementary partners and resellers.

“We are proud to be named a leader in this independent evaluation and believe that being included in this Forrester report is validation of our strategy and market success,” said Jim Heppelmann, president and CEO, PTC. “It is my view that this report by a top-tier industry analyst firm validates ThingWorx as the platform of choice for companies looking to capitalize on the immense impact that the Internet of Things will have on their businesses.”
