WhichPLM Blog 27 Mar, 2009: Fast Facts = Fast Fashion!

During the many implementations on both PDM & PLM that I’ve been involved in, it’s clear that very few people within organisations have a full and clear understanding of the end-to-end business process. This is most likely due to limited visibility and complexity linked to managing multiple brands, collections, product ranges, seasons and extended supply-chain partners. The faster today’s businesses develop products, the more difficult it becomes to manage information that is shared between the many different departments, processes and partners.

Today, managers find it almost impossible to make sound decisions due to the simple fact that they don’t have the required information available from the extended supply chain. It is therefore critical that C-level managers need to understand that PLM solutions can provide the means to deliver ‘Fast Facts,’ enabling middle tier managers to make informed decisions, by the hour, based on real-time information.

Information is power

Without PLM, it’s almost impossible to be truly effective as a modern manager. PLM is not just another software solution for the design and development team, but a critical management solution for the C-level team to ensure that the right products are produced at the right time. PLM delivers a streamlined end-to-end view of the entire supply chain, allowing the management team to make those critical decisions that would otherwise lead to delays or, worst still, failures!
