WhichPLM Editorial Review – 3 February 2012

Today’s is the first editorial review since my return from the National Retail Federation Conference & Expo (a.k.a Retail’s Big Show) in New York City, so WhichPLM has been predictably packed with event coverage over the past seven days.

Our detailed coverage of the NRF show itself is all collected on a dedicated page, and comprises my “Best of NRF 2012“, published on the day of my return, followed by a full, detailed report on the show (and PLM’s place there) as well as a gallery of photographs taking during my visit.

Regular readers who kept an eye on our Twitter feed during the days of the NRF show will have noticed not just breaking news and information from the show floor, but hints at interviews and and demonstrations from some of the world’s leading PLM vendors.  These will appear on WhichPLM over the coming weeks, along with several other exciting developments.

Just days after my return from NRF, I was invited to attend another event: Gerber Technology’s PLM Seminar at the London College of Fashion, intended to introduce both new and existing customers to YuniquePLM.  My full report on the day is available to read here, and represents just the first instalment of a year of detailed event coverage here at WhichPLM.

That same week also represented the start of the year of the dragon, which, with more traffic than ever before arriving at our pages from mainland China, Hong Kong and other territories that celebrate the lunar calendar, will have been a noteworthy date in the calendars of many of our readers worldwide.

More recently, Lectra (developers of the core fashion PLM solution and E-PLM solution Modaris) announced their recruitment of Jean-Patrice Gros as Director of the Middle Eastern and North African regions, as well as revealing their intention to open two new offices in India – specifically in Delhi and Tirupur – to strengthen their existing sales and distribution network in the territory.

Finally this week, Computer Generated Solutions (suppliers of the Blue Cherry PLM solution) reported on their 150-delegate-strong client event held in New York, lending even further weight to the impression that 2012 is to be the year of events!

Keep visiting WhichPLM for news, reporting and insight into events throughout the year, as well as an exciting announcement in that arena over the coming weeks.

As always, I welcome any comments about the week’s news and look forward to speaking with our readers, both new and long-standing.
