WhichPLM: PLM Supplier Evaluations

Here at WhichPLM we pride ourselves in being impartial. Since our inception we have remained unbiased and informative. Our passion is to educate, and not to coerce; to report, and not to influence.

We post the most up-to-date articles from a host of contributors – brands, vendors and advisors alike. And not only do we report exclusively upon industry events, but we also report upon suppliers. We are often approached by software vendors eager for a thorough evaluation of their system, and on the other side of the coin, by prospective PLM customers eager to obtain exclusive reviews of these very vendors. Knowing the maturity of a supplier’s solution is just as important for a prospective customer as for the suppliers themselves.

Our ethical stance shapes the processes we use to evaluate suppliers. A WhichPLM Supplier Evaluation is unlike any other vendor profile, benchmark or review. Our research methods are exhaustive and truly expert, and our conclusions independent, unbiased, and informed by 30 years of hands-on PDM, CPM & PLM experience.

When a software supplier approaches WhichPLM looking to have their solution benchmarked, we first explain that our methods go beyond technical evaluation. Although we do benchmark the solution in question (based on our own hands-on experience of PLM from its inception to modern-day solutions) we also take a more holistic view of the vendor themselves, seeking to understand their ethos, competencies, industry knowledge, customer insights, services and support capabilities, geographical presence, international solution offering and business sustainability.

This extension of what might typically be a purely technical evaluation is done for several reasons. Firstly, increasingly educated customers are becoming more able to assess core PLM functionality for themselves, based on education gleaned from WhichPLM and other such sources.

Secondly, we recognise that choosing a PLM supplier involves choosing a long-term partner on the basis of more than just software. At WhichPLM we like to think of our research covering the “3 Ps”: Product, Process & People.

Having evaluated a number of vendors already, WhichPLM, in conjunction with these vendors, is now proud to publish our results. Each evaluation will be made available via downloadable PDF. To download your copy/copies simply click the button(s) below.

Compare and contrast

New for 2020, we’ve launched our PLM comparison tool. Although each evaluation is freely available, until now there was no easy-access way of quickly comparing those evaluated.

Today, you can simply visit our comparison centre to see how vendors fare against one another  – both overall, and when it comes to certain functionalities. If, for example, great UI & UX is a non-negotiable for your business, you’re able to quickly analyse those vendors who outperform in that area (and those that don’t).

Although we’re not advocating that this new tool be used in place of a proper RFI and/or selection process, it can certainly help to define expectations, and confirm (or rebut) any current vendor marketing.

So, why not visit our comparison centre to help kick-start your PLM journey today?

If you are a software supplier interested in undergoing a professional and expert evaluation by the WhichPLM team, who has the two C’s – confidence and conviction – in their software please get in touch with a member of the WhichPLM team.
